Untitled

This postcard was sent in for the Bathtub Art Show. The watery blobs of paint are perfect for this bathing scene.

Graphite & Watercolor. 4 x 6 in. 2003.

A Tribute to Barbara Kruger 2003

boyer tub A lot going on in this tub! One end has feet and a head, the other a piano. In the tub is a baby and a monster type creature. Also a radio playing Sunny 102.71-- all the hits, and shampoo with actual pine branches and needles. I would hope Barbara Kruger knows what this is all about!

Pet Eye Remover on Paper. 9 x 11.5 in. 2003.

Untitled Mail Art

boyer tub These are some of the envelopes Boyer sent to me. In the first he has incorporated my name into a bathtub/figure image.

Business Envelopes and Ink. 2003.

Design your own Tub

boyer tub For the Bathtub Art Fair (Portland, Sept 2003) I made an art worksheet about designing your own bathtub. I sent one to Boyer and he sent back these two inventions. One is a Bathtub that can travel by Rail, Skate, or Sail. The other is a wide tub with a diving board, and a hi-fi that can be heard underwater!

Graphite & color pencil on paper. 2003.

Since the opening of the Bathtub Museum in August 2003, Mr. Boyer has been a very prolific tub artist with his main medium of mail art; every piece Boyer has sent me arrived in elaborately decorated envelopes and packages. Boyer's style I akin to automatic surrealist style drawing where the outcome of the picture is unknown until the pen is taken off the paper.

Many of the works by Daniel C. Boyer are in pencil or other mediums that may be hard to see online. For a better look click on any picture to enlarge.
